At Beyondia International School, reading inquiry time has become an essential part of our Kinder class routine. Every day, the children engage in regular reading sessions both in the morning and afternoon. These dedicated moments provide more than just an opportunity to enjoy stories\u2014they are a powerful tool for developing the IB Learner Profile traits in our young learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During reading inquiry time, students not only build their language and literacy skills but also strengthen their ability to think critically and reflectively. They ask questions, make predictions, and draw connections between the books they read and the world around them. For example, after reading about different types of natural events, the children were able to relate what they learned to our recent fire evacuation drill. This ability to connect literature to real-life situations is a key outcome of inquiry-based learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve observed that reading has inspired the children to explore new ideas and express their thoughts with growing confidence. Their curiosity is sparked by the characters and events in the stories, and they are increasingly showing traits such as being knowledgeable, open-minded, and caring. Through discussions about the stories, they learn to listen to others’ perspectives and express their own ideas in respectful ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
