At Beyondia International School Kashiwanoha, our K2 and K3 students are currently inquiring into \u201cHow We Express Ourselves,\u201d<\/strong> one of the IB PYP transdisciplinary themes. As part of this unit, the children began exploring one of the most essential elements of Art\u2014colors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u30d3\u30e8\u30f3\u30c7\u30a3\u30a2\u30a4\u30f3\u30bf\u30fc\u30ca\u30b7\u30e7\u30ca\u30eb\u30b9\u30af\u30fc\u30eb\u67cf\u306e\u8449\u3067\u306f\u3001K2\/K3\u306e\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u304c\u73fe\u5728\u3001IB\u521d\u7b49\u6559\u80b2\u30d7\u30ed\u30b0\u30e9\u30e0\uff08PYP\uff09\u306e\u8d85\u6559\u79d1\u7684\u30c6\u30fc\u30de\u306e\u4e00\u3064\u3067\u3042\u308b\u300c\u79c1\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3069\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u81ea\u5206\u3092\u8868\u73fe\u3059\u308b\u304b\u300d\u3092\u63a2\u7a76\u3057\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3059\u3002\u3053\u306e\u63a2\u7a76\u306e\u4e00\u74b0\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3001\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u306f\u82b8\u8853\u306e\u6700\u3082\u57fa\u672c\u7684\u306a\u8981\u7d20\u306e\u3072\u3068\u3064\u300c\u8272\u300d\u304b\u3089\u5b66\u3073\u3092\u59cb\u3081\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To spark curiosity, we started by showing a painting from our reading corner and asking an open-ended question: \u201cWhat colors can you see?\u201d<\/em> The children eagerly shared answers such as red, white, and blue, which naturally led into conversations about recognizing, naming, and using colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we extended the inquiry with color flashcards<\/strong>, where students practiced phonics, spelling, and word recognition<\/strong> while connecting language development with visual expression. They traced color names, matched words with pictures, and expressed themselves creatively through coloring activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To promote student agency and active learning<\/strong>, we designed inquiry-based learning stations<\/strong>:\u5150\u7ae5\u306e\u4e3b\u4f53\u6027\u3068\u80fd\u52d5\u7684\u306a\u5b66\u3073\u3092\u4fc3\u3059\u305f\u3081\u306b\u3001\u8272\u3092\u30c6\u30fc\u30de\u306b\u3057\u305f\u5b66\u7fd2\u30b9\u30c6\u30fc\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u3092\u8a2d\u8a08\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Our K3 students<\/strong> took the challenge further by applying their research and reading skills<\/strong>. They completed a color-themed word search and explored Fun for Starters Unit 4: \u201cRed, Blue, and Yellow,\u201d<\/em> strengthening their inquiry into how colors connect with both reading and writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    K3\u306e\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u306f\u5f37\u3044\u8aad\u89e3\u529b\u3068\u30ea\u30b5\u30fc\u30c1\u30b9\u30ad\u30eb\u3092\u767a\u63ee\u3057\u3001\u8272\u306e\u5358\u8a9e\u63a2\u3057\u3084 Fun for Starters Unit 4: \u201cRed, Blue, and Yellow\u201d<\/em> \u306b\u57fa\u3065\u3044\u305f\u6d3b\u52d5\u3068\u3044\u3063\u305f\u767a\u5c55\u7684\u306a\u8ab2\u984c\u3092\u3084\u308a\u9042\u3052\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3053\u308c\u306b\u3088\u308a\u3001\u8272\u304c\u8aad\u307f\u66f8\u304d\u3068\u3069\u306e\u3088\u3046\u306b\u3064\u306a\u304c\u308b\u304b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u63a2\u7a76\u3082\u3055\u3089\u306b\u6df1\u307e\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For hands-on exploration, we created a color-mixing poster<\/strong> and experimented with blending shades through a tie-dye project<\/strong>. These experiences allowed students to see how new colors emerge, encouraging creativity, self-expression, and experimentation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Throughout this inquiry, students demonstrated growth in the PYP Approaches to Learning (ATLs)<\/strong>\u2014especially thinking, communication, and research skills.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u3053\u306e\u30ab\u30e9\u30d5\u30eb\u306a\u63a2\u7a76\u306f\u3001\u7f8e\u8853\u7684\u306a\u30b9\u30ad\u30eb\u3060\u3051\u3067\u306a\u304f\u3001PYP\u306e\u5b66\u7fd2\u306e\u65b9\u6cd5\uff08ATL\uff09\u3067\u3042\u308b\u601d\u8003\u30b9\u30ad\u30eb\u3001\u30b3\u30df\u30e5\u30cb\u30b1\u30fc\u30b7\u30e7\u30f3\u30b9\u30ad\u30eb\u3001\u30ea\u30b5\u30fc\u30c1\u30b9\u30ad\u30eb\u3082\u80b2\u307f\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
