The trip began with a visit to Sumida Aquarium, where the children observed a variety of fascinating sea creatures. They excitedly described the size, shape, and color of the fish. Some children pointed out, \u201cIt\u2019s a big fish!\u201d and \u201cLook, it\u2019s a small jellyfish!\u201d They were able to recognize sea animals such as\u00a0pufferfish, jellyfish, eels, starfish, sharks, and manta rays<\/strong>. The children also commented on their movements, noticing which fish were fast and which were slow, and even expressed ideas about their feelings, saying things like \u201cThis fish looks happy\u201d or \u201cThis fish is sad.\u201d One of the highlights of the aquarium was watching the eels being fed. The students were amazed when the eels suddenly emerged from the sand to eat, and they noticed how some were short while others were long. The penguins were another favorite, and the children enjoyed observing their behavior while predicting whether they looked happy, sad, angry, or hungry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children also had the chance to participate in a workshop at the aquarium, where they engaged in hands-on art activities. Some created fish using collage techniques while others made turtle wristbands. These activities allowed them to express their creativity and bring home unique art projects as memories of the trip. Afterwards, they enjoyed watching sharks, seals, and goldfish, which sparked even more curiosity and excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the aquarium visit, the children had lunch outside while enjoying the impressive view of Tokyo Skytree. They shared their thoughts about what they had seen before preparing for the next stage of the trip. Finally, the group went up the Tokyo Skytree, and the children were thrilled to see the city from above. They tried to spot famous landmarks such as\u00a0Tokyo Tower, Mount Fuji, and Disneyland<\/strong>, but due to the foggy weather it was difficult to see them clearly. However, the children were fascinated when they saw a helicopter flying close to the tower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The field trip to Sumida Aquarium and Tokyo Skytree was an enjoyable and educational experience for our K2 and K3 students. They had the opportunity to observe, question, and express themselves in many different ways, reflecting the IB PYP philosophy of inquiry-based learning. They returned to school safely, carrying with them wonderful memories and experiences that will continue to inspire their creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
