At Beyondia International School Kashiwanoha, our K2 and K3 students explored the theme of\u00a0art and creativity\u3000through the traditional Japanese celebration of\u00a0Tsukimi, or Moon Viewing Day. This cultural event provided a meaningful opportunity for our students to connect storytelling, creativity, and reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u67cf\u306e\u8449\u306b\u3042\u308b\u30d3\u30e8\u30f3\u30c7\u30a3\u30a2\u30fb\u30a4\u30f3\u30bf\u30fc\u30ca\u30b7\u30e7\u30ca\u30eb\u30fb\u30b9\u30af\u30fc\u30eb\u3067\u306f\u3001K2\u30fbK3\u306e\u751f\u5f92\u305f\u3061\u304c\u3001\u4f1d\u7d71\u7684\u306a\u65e5\u672c\u306e\u884c\u4e8b\u3067\u3042\u308b\u304a\u6708\u898b\uff08Tsukimi\u3001Moon Viewing Day\uff09\u3092\u901a\u3057\u3066\u3001\u300c\u30a2\u30fc\u30c8\u3068\u5275\u9020\u6027\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u30c6\u30fc\u30de\u3092\u63a2\u6c42\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3053\u306e\u6587\u5316\u7684\u306a\u30a4\u30d9\u30f3\u30c8\u306f\u3001\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u304c\u7269\u8a9e\u306e\u7406\u89e3\u3001\u5275\u9020\u6027\u3001\u305d\u3057\u3066\u632f\u308a\u8fd4\u308a\u306e\u5b66\u3073\u3092\u7d50\u3073\u3064\u3051\u308b\u3001\u8cb4\u91cd\u306a\u6a5f\u4f1a\u3068\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our morning inquiry time, we read a story about a\u00a0rabbit, monkey, and fox\u00a0who helped a hungry old man find food. In the story, the rabbit, unable to find food, offered himself as a meal to the old man. After listening, the students asked thoughtful questions such as, \u201cWhy did the rabbit offer himself as food?\u201d This discussion led to a meaningful conversation about\u00a0kindness, helping others, and sharing, highlighting values that are integral to the PYP learner profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the story, the students engaged in a creative activity. They\u00a0colored the characters, carefully cut them out, and pasted the rabbit, monkey, fox, and old man onto construction paper. They added detailed elements to their artwork, including fruits picked by the monkey, trees, mountains, fire created by the monkey and fox, and fish in the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the activity, I was impressed by the students\u2019\u00a0creativity and reflective thinking. Many children even narrated the entire story while drawing, demonstrating their ability to use\u00a0art as a medium for storytelling without words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity exemplifies our commitment to the\u00a0IB PYP framework, where learning is interdisciplinary, hands-on, and encourages both cognitive and emotional growth. By combining storytelling, discussion, and artistic expression, our students not only practiced their creative skills but also deepened their understanding of cultural traditions and social values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
