Today, the K2\/K3 class had Open School, and it was a fun and exciting experience! The children played and learned with rocks, which has become a recent interest for them. They enjoy collecting rocks whenever we go to the park, and today we connected this curiosity to our theme\u00a0\u201cHow We Express Ourselves.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploring Famous Landmarks<\/strong>\/ \u6709\u540d\u306a\u30e9\u30f3\u30c9\u30de\u30fc\u30af\u306e\u63a2\u7a76<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The session began with photos of famous landmarks made of rocks, such as Mount Rushmore, the Pyramids, the Easter Island Heads, Petra, Sigiriya, Newgrange, and Stonehenge. The children engaged in a thoughtful discussion, answering questions like \u201cWhere is it? Is it in Japan, Sri Lanka, or Ireland?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One K3 student recognized Stonehenge and said, \u201cIt\u2019s in England.\u201d Another K2 student commented that Petra in Jordan looks very old. Most of the children quickly identified the Pyramids, and together we observed that all these landmarks are made of rocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hands-On Rock Exploration<\/strong>\/ \u5ca9\u306e\u5b9f\u969b\u306e\u63a2\u7a76<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Next, we explored real rocks and revisited our morning vocabulary by touching and describing them, discussing which rocks were rough or smooth. This hands-on experience helped reinforce the descriptive words they learned earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interactive Games with Rocks<\/strong>\/ \u5ca9\u3092\u4f7f\u3063\u305f\u30b2\u30fc\u30e0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We then played a game where parents also participated. Each child chose a rock, and we used criteria such as \u201cWho has the biggest rock?\u201d or \u201cWho has the flattest rock?\u201d The children compared their rocks with their partners and raised their hands when they had the correct match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Finally, the children enjoyed art and craft time, coloring and drawing on their rocks creatively. This allowed them to express themselves through art while reflecting on what they learned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
