Last month, the K2\/K3 class started our new inquiry theme\u00a0\u201cHow the World Works\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and, under this theme, we have been inquiring about\u00a0Light<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5148\u6708\u304b\u3089\u3001\u65b0\u3057\u3044\u63a2\u7a76\u30c6\u30fc\u30de\u300c\u4e16\u754c\u306e\u3057\u304f\u307f\uff08How the World Works\uff09\u300d\u304c\u59cb\u307e\u308a\u3001\u305d\u306e\u4e2d\u3067\u00a0K2\/K3\u30af\u30e9\u30b9\u304c \u201c\u5149\u201d \u306b\u3064\u3044\u3066\u306e\u63a2\u7a76\u3092\u59cb\u3081\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To explore this, we began with a simple but fascinating experiment. I covered a toy with a solid bowl and asked the children,\u00a0\u201cCan you see what\u2019s inside?\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0They said no \u2014 because they couldn\u2019t see through the bowl! But when I replaced it with a bowl with holes, they could peek inside and said,\u00a0\u201cYes, now we can see!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u6700\u521d\u306e\u5b66\u3073\u306f\u3001\u7c21\u5358\u3060\u3051\u308c\u3069\u3068\u3066\u3082\u304a\u3082\u3057\u308d\u3044\u5b9f\u9a13\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002\u304a\u3082\u3061\u3083\u3092\u30dc\u30a6\u30eb\u3067\u96a0\u3057\u3001\u300c\u4e2d\u306b\u4f55\u304c\u3042\u308b\u304b\u308f\u304b\u308b\uff1f\u300d\u3068\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u306b\u805e\u304f\u3068\u3001\u7a74\u306e\u306a\u3044\u30dc\u30a6\u30eb\u3067\u306f\u300c\u898b\u3048\u306a\u3044\uff01\u300d\u3068\u7b54\u3048\u3066\u3044\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3067\u3082\u3001\u7a74\u306e\u3042\u3044\u305f\u30dc\u30a6\u30eb\u306b\u5909\u3048\u308b\u3068\u3001\u4e2d\u304c\u898b\u3048\u3066\u300c\u898b\u3048\u308b\u3088\uff01\u300d\u3068\u5927\u559c\u3073\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then turned off the lights in our classroom and closed our eyes. The children noticed right away:\u305d\u306e\u3042\u3068\u3001\u6559\u5ba4\u306e\u96fb\u6c17\u3092\u6d88\u3057\u3066\u76ee\u3092\u9589\u3058\u3066\u307f\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3059\u3050\u306b\u6c17\u3065\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They quickly pointed out different light sources around them: the sunlight coming through the window, the classroom lights, and even flashlights and streetlights! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u305d\u3057\u3066\u3001\u5468\u308a\u306b\u3042\u308b\u5149\u306e\u6e90\uff08\u30e9\u30a4\u30c8\uff09\u3092\u305f\u304f\u3055\u3093\u898b\u3064\u3051\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u7a93\u304b\u3089\u5165\u308b\u592a\u967d\u306e\u5149\u3001\u6559\u5ba4\u306e\u660e\u304b\u308a\u3001\u61d0\u4e2d\u96fb\u706f\u3084\u8857\u706f\u306a\u3069\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When we talked about\u00a0why we can\u2019t see the sun at night<\/strong>, our K3 friends explained that\u00a0the Earth is spinning, so the sun is on the other side<\/strong>. One K2 friend shared a creative idea:\u00a0\u201cMaybe at night, the sun goes to America, and in the morning, it comes back here!\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0We were so impressed with their imaginative thinking!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u300c\u3069\u3046\u3057\u3066\u591c\u306f\u304a\u3072\u3055\u307e\u304c\u898b\u3048\u306a\u3044\u306e\uff1f\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u8a71\u3067\u306f\u3001K3\u306e\u304a\u53cb\u3060\u3061\u304c\u300c\u5730\u7403\u304c\u56de\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\u304b\u3089\u3001\u53cd\u5bfe\u5074\u306b\u884c\u304f\u3093\u3060\u3088\u300d\u3068\u6559\u3048\u3066\u304f\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002K2\u306e\u304a\u53cb\u3060\u3061\u304b\u3089\u306f\u3001\u300c\u591c\u306f\u30a2\u30e1\u30ea\u30ab\u306b\u884c\u3063\u3066\u3001\u671d\u306b\u306a\u308b\u3068\u307e\u305f\u3053\u3053\u306b\u5e30\u3063\u3066\u304f\u308b\u3093\u3060\u3088\uff01\u300d\u3068\u3044\u3046\u304b\u308f\u3044\u3044\u30a2\u30a4\u30c7\u30a2\u3082\u51fa\u3066\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u306e\u60f3\u50cf\u529b\u306b\u3001\u307f\u3093\u306a\u3067\u307b\u3063\u3053\u308a\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Next, we had a game to sort picture cards into\u00a0sources of light<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0not sources of light<\/strong>. The kids really enjoyed the activity, and we had fun sorting the cards together. At the end, we made a nice poster with our findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u6b21\u306b\u3001\u5149\u3092\u51fa\u3059\u3082\u306e\u3068\u51fa\u3055\u306a\u3044\u3082\u306e\u3092\u30ab\u30fc\u30c9\u3067\u5206\u3051\u308b\u30b2\u30fc\u30e0\u3092\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u5b50\u3069\u3082\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3068\u3066\u3082\u697d\u3057\u305d\u3046\u306b\u53d6\u308a\u7d44\u307f\u3001\u6700\u5f8c\u306b\u306f\u307f\u3093\u306a\u3067\u7d20\u6575\u306a\u30dd\u30b9\u30bf\u30fc\u3092\u4f5c\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The next day, we moved to the piano room and noticed\u00a0light streaming through the glass<\/strong>. Using colorful Magna-Tiles, we created beautiful designs and observed how light passing through the tiles created beautiful reflections on the floor. Sometimes, the reflection disappeared \u2014 and the children noticed that this happened\u00a0when the sun was covered by clouds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u7fcc\u65e5\u3001\u30d4\u30a2\u30ce\u30eb\u30fc\u30e0\u306b\u79fb\u52d5\u3059\u308b\u3068\u3001\u30ac\u30e9\u30b9\u304b\u3089\u5dee\u3057\u8fbc\u3080\u5149\u306b\u6c17\u3065\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u30ab\u30e9\u30d5\u30eb\u306a\u30de\u30b0\u30cd\u30c3\u30c8\u30bf\u30a4\u30eb\u3092\u4f7f\u3063\u3066\u6a21\u69d8\u3092\u4f5c\u308a\u3001\u5149\u3092\u901a\u3057\u305f\u3068\u304d\u306b\u5e8a\u306b\u3067\u304d\u308b\u304d\u308c\u3044\u306a\u53cd\u5c04\u3092\u89b3\u5bdf\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u96f2\u3067\u592a\u967d\u304c\u96a0\u308c\u308b\u3068\u53cd\u5c04\u304c\u6d88\u3048\u308b\u3053\u3068\u306b\u3082\u6c17\u3065\u304d\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To explore this further, we placed white paper on the floor and tried to\u00a0trace the colorful reflections<\/strong>\u00a0of the Magna-Tiles. It was a fun, hands-on way to see how light moves and changes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u3055\u3089\u306b\u3001\u767d\u3044\u7d19\u3092\u5e8a\u306b\u7f6e\u3044\u3066\u3001\u30de\u30b0\u30cd\u30c3\u30c8\u30bf\u30a4\u30eb\u306e\u53cd\u5c04\u3092\u306a\u305e\u3063\u3066\u307f\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u5149\u306e\u52d5\u304d\u3084\u5909\u5316\u3092\u697d\u3057\u304f\u4f53\u9a13\u3067\u304d\u308b\u6d3b\u52d5\u3067\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
