Experiencing Japanese Culture Firsthand | 日本の伝統文化を実際に体験

Together with Happily Studio, we held our annual Kimono Culture Experience Day. This is the third year we have offered this special opportunity for the children to see, touch, and wear traditional Japanese clothing.

Some children who had cried or seemed nervous during last year’s experience were able to put on their kimono with confidence this year. It was a wonderful opportunity to see how much they had grown over the past year.

The children were also curious about each part of the traditional clothing. They looked closely at the tabi socks and hakama, with one child wondering, “Is this a skirt?”

These natural questions showed how the children were noticing the shapes, materials, and details that are different from their everyday clothes.

Happily Studio様にご協力いただき、今年も「着物文化体験Day」を実施しました。この取り組みは今年で3年目となり、子どもたちが日本の伝統衣装を実際に見て、触れて、身に着ける特別な機会となっています。

昨年は着付けの際に泣いていたり、不安そうな様子を見せていたりした子も、今年は自信を持って着物を着ることができました。同じ体験を通して、子どもたちの一年間の成長を感じられる嬉しい時間にもなりました。

子どもたちは、足袋や袴など、普段の洋服とは異なるものにも興味津々でした。袴を見て「これはスカート？」と不思議そうに尋ねる姿もありました。

形や素材、着物ならではの特徴に気づきながら、日本の伝統文化への関心を広げていました。

Designing Our Own Kimono | 自分だけの着物をデザイン

As part of the same day’s activities, the children also created their own kimono designs.

They tore and pasted pieces of colored paper and freely drew patterns using crayons and other art materials. While remembering the kimono they had just worn, each child thought about the colors and patterns they wanted to include.

Some children carefully combined different colors and shapes, while others filled their kimono with their favorite patterns. Each child expressed their ideas in their own way, creating a colorful and unique design.

子どもたちは自分だけの着物のデザインにも挑戦しました。

色紙をちぎって貼り付けたり、クレヨンやクーピーを使って自由に模様を描いたりしました。実際に着物を着たときのことを思い出しながら、「どんな着物にしようかな」と考えて制作を進めました。

色や形を丁寧に組み合わせる子や、好きな模様をたくさん描く子など、表現の仕方は一人ひとり異なります。

それぞれのアイデアを自由に形にし、個性あふれる素敵な着物が完成しました。

Connecting Experience to Learning | 体験を次の学びへ

At Beyondia, we value connecting special experiences to further curiosity, creativity, and learning.

The children first saw, touched, and wore real kimono. They then used what they had noticed and felt to create something of their own.

An enjoyable cultural experience naturally developed into new questions and a desire to try. Through these connected activities, the children were able to deepen their interest in Japanese culture while expressing their own ideas.

Beyondiaでは、特別な体験を「楽しかった」という一日の思い出だけで終わらせず、そこから生まれた興味や発見を、次の活動や学びへつなげることを大切にしています。

実際に着物を見て、触れて、着てみる。そして、そこで気づいたことや感じたことを、自分なりのデザインとして表現する。

本物に触れた経験が、子どもたちの「もっと知りたい」「自分でもやってみたい」という気持ちにつながり、日本文化への関心や自由な発想が広がる学びの時間となりました。
