A Baby-Friendly Autumn Harvest Experience | 赤ちゃんと楽しむ秋の収穫体験

Autumn is a wonderful time to discover the fruits and foods that are ready to be harvested. In our Baby & Mommy Class, we introduced the idea of an autumn harvest through a simple and playful grape-picking activity.

Our classroom became a little vineyard, with handmade green and purple grapes hanging from green ropes. The children looked up, reached out their little hands, and tried to pick them.

Some grapes came away easily, while others took a few attempts. Watching the children keep reaching, grasping, and pulling until they successfully harvested a grape was one of the sweetest parts of the activity.

For babies, these simple movements provide meaningful opportunities to practise coordination while discovering what they can do with their own hands.

秋は、さまざまな果物や食べ物が実り、収穫を楽しめる季節です。今回のBaby & Mommy Classでは、秋の「収穫」をテーマに、親子で楽しくぶどう狩りあそびを楽しみました。

教室には、緑と紫の手作りぶどうが登場。緑色のロープにぶどうを吊るすと、まるでぶどうがつるになって実っているようです。

子どもたちは上を見上げ、一生懸命に手を伸ばしてぶどうを収穫しました。すぐにつかめる子もいれば、何度か手を伸ばして挑戦する子もいました。しっかりとぶどうをつかみ、ぐっと引っ張って取ることができたときの嬉しそうな姿がとても可愛らしかったです。

このような「手を伸ばす・つかむ・引っ張る」というシンプルな動きも、赤ちゃんにとって大切な経験のひとつです。

Pick, Hold, Discover! | 収穫したぶどうを楽しもう！

After picking the grapes, the children had time to explore their little harvest.

They held the grapes, moved them around in their hands, and looked at them closely. Each child found their own way to investigate the new object.

Some were especially curious and even brought the pretend grapes toward their mouths — a very baby-like way of investigating something new!

There was no single “right” way to explore. The children were given time to interact with the materials at their own pace, following their individual interests and curiosity.

ぶどうを収穫したあとは、取ったぶどうを手に持って、じっくり楽しみました。

手の中で動かしてみたり、近くで見てみたり、それぞれの方法でぶどうを探索する子どもたち。中には、興味津々でぶどうを口元に持っていく姿もありました。赤ちゃんらしい、好奇心いっぱいの探索ですね。

同じぶどうでも、楽しみ方は一人ひとり違います。それぞれの興味に合わせて、自由に触れたり動かしたりしながら、新しいものを発見する時間を楽しみました。

From Harvest to Art | 収穫したぶどうをアートに

After our grape-picking adventure, we continued the harvest theme with a grape craft.

First, the children attached a brown paper stem to their grape-shaped paper. Then came the fun part — adding paint!

Using stamps, they created round green and purple marks across their grapes. The children watched with excitement as each new pattern appeared.

Some became more interested in the paint itself and began exploring with their fingers instead of the stamps. Their little fingers created different marks and patterns, making each grape unique.

The activity gave the children opportunities to practise fine motor coordination and hand control, while also discovering a simple cause-and-effect relationship: when they pressed or touched the paint, a new mark appeared.

ぶどう狩りを楽しんだあとは、収穫したぶどうをイメージしたクラフトにも挑戦しました。

まずは、ぶどうの形に切った紙に茶色の茎を貼り付け、その後は絵の具を使って模様をつけていきます。スタンプをポンポンと押すと、緑や紫の丸い模様が紙の上に登場！模様ができるたびに、興味深そうに見つめる子どもたちの姿が見られました。

中には、スタンプよりも絵の具そのものに興味を持ち、指を使って楽しむ子も。指でつけた模様は、スタンプとはまた違った仕上がりになりました。

スタンプを押したり、指で絵の具に触れたりする中で、手先の動きや目と手の協応を楽しみながら体験することができました。

Small Discoveries, Meaningful Learning | 小さな発見を大切に

A grape-picking activity may look simple, but for our youngest learners, there is a lot happening in those little hands.

They are reaching, grasping, pulling, touching, watching, and trying again. Through these experiences, babies begin to discover how their own movements can affect the world around them.

And, of course, they are having fun along the way!

一見するとシンプルな「ぶどう狩りあそび」ですが、赤ちゃんたちの小さな手の中では、たくさんの発見が生まれています。

手を伸ばす、つかむ、引っ張る、触る、見る、そしてもう一度やってみる。こうした一つひとつの経験を通して、自分の動きによって周りのものが変化することを少しずつ発見していきます。

そして何より、子どもたちはその過程を楽しんでいます。
